In the 1920s Prohibition Era, a “Blind Tiger” was an establishment known to illegally sell alcohol, with a focus on celebrating the exciting flavour and taste of liquor cocktails, many of which were Gin based. Blind Tiger Organic Gin is distilled in small batches and is a complex, yet elegant and aromatic gin made from the finest certified organic botanicals.

Botanicals

We search the world for the most sustainable, organic botanicals. Blind Tiger Organic Gin is an exotic blend of Juniper Berries (Macedonia), Coriander Seed (India), Dried & Fresh Lemon Peel (Ghana & Renmark), Dried & Fresh Sweet Orange Peel (Ghana & Renmark), Bitter Orange Peel (Paraguay), Lime Peel (Renmark), Savory (Albania), Angelica Root (Bulgaria), Cassia Bark (India) and Liquorice (Egypt).

Juniper Berry is the core botanical of many Gins. In Blind Tiger Organic Gin it provides a backbone of fresh spring forest and citrus notes. Cassia provides a delicate top note of spice whilst Coriander has been selected as it enhances the citrus characters of the Juniper. The citrus peels further enhance the citrus characters. Angelica root gives a delightfully aromatic and heady note of musk. Summer savory contributes a subtle mint like peppery character with Licorice root completing the botanical mix and imparting a fuller mouthfeel.

The combination of these botanicals and premium Australian Organic wheat spirit creates a Rare Dry Gin that is a perfect mixer with Tonic or Soda and a great base for one of the hugely popular gin based cocktails. The Blind Tiger Mandarin Gin uses the Rare Gin as the base with the further addition of a distilled blend of locally grown mandarins. This is then sweetened with organic sugar to make a liqueur style gin. The name “Navy Strength” comes from the historical practice of the British Royal Navy, which required its gin to be at least 114 proof (57% ABV) to ensure that if the gin spilled on gunpowder, the gunpowder would still ignite. Our Blind Tiger Organic Navy strength Gin is bottled at 59.9% ABV, making it the highest Strength Navy Gin crafted in Australia. It has pungent juniper and lime citrus aromas on first pour. These open to the other botanicals with time. When neat this unique gin is peppery hot on the palate and has a drying finish. Makes a very richly flavoured G&T when mixed with premium tonic.

Distillation

The handpicked organic botanicals are distilled individually through a small pot still, creating distinctive elements that are drawn on to craft and blend Blind Tiger Organic Gin. Both the Juniper and Coriander are steeped in spirit for 24 hours before distillation to concentrate and enhance their flavours, whilst the citrus peels are vapour infused. The unique components are then blended with organic wheat spirit to create a fine elegant Rare Dry style of Organic Gin.

This unique and individualised method for making Gin allows the distiller to craft and control the flavours in a similar way a winemaker puts a wine blend together. A delicate balance of science and artistry with consistency of excellence in every batch. The result of this approach is one of Australia’s most distinctive certified organic gin ranges, with a pure, fragrant and elevated flavours profile featuring a bold combination of juniper and citrus.

Blind Tiger Organic Gin is Certified Organic and Gluten Free.

Why Organic?

Gin is truly a product of the Earth. The simple ingredients to a fine Gin consist of pure water and grain, used to make a neutral spirit and infused with an often secretive and exotic botanical recipe.

Botanicals can come from far and wide and can belong to the seed, berry, root, bark or peel categories.

A quality product starts with quality ingredients and we believe that using ingredients only from certified organic sources ensures that Blind Tiger Organic Gin not only has a purity of flavour but also that we are using sustainable resources.

Organic farming means no artificial herbicides, pesticides or fertilisers are used in the growing of the grain or botanicals we use. This ensures that we minimise our impact on the environment while making a product that speaks of the clean, green approach we take in making it.
